Software Telecom Engineer

The IT recruitment team at Connectra is looking for an experienced Software Telecom Engineer, who would be interested in a long-term consulting engagement within the Edmonton region.

This role encompasses a range of responsibilities in the area of software design and implementation, testing and support.

The role requires the development of multiple customer specific applications which provides service routing network management functionality and integration into industry cloud management platforms (OpenStack, CloudStack and VMware vRO/vRA/vCD).

The application will provide services which make use of the product functionality of the client VSP, 5620 SAM and 7×50 Service Routers.

The candidate should have extensive experience in Java and web technologies, and implementation of applications using open source frameworks.

The candidate should also have experience in modeling and implementing software in IP networking and network management domains.

The candidate will need to have integration experience with Cloud technologies and frameworks such as OpenStack, CloudStack, vRealize Orchestrator, vRealize Automation and vCloud Director.

Qualifications for this role would be:

• Experience with virtualization technology such as KVM, ESXi, docker, Xen and Hyper-V.
• Substantial experience in software design, architecture and development.
• Substantial experience in web, distributed, real-time applications using Java.
• Experience in integrating 3rd party and Open Source software, OSS/BSS and devops environment.
• IP networking and network management domain experience.
• Design of web services, SOAP, or REST interfaces.
• Implementation of commercial and open source server technologies like Apache httpd, Apache Tomcat, Oracle JBoss.
• Knowledge of git and SVN.
